As a shutdown of the federal government now sprawls into its third week, Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin, who leads a national group of mayors, is calling upon leaders in Washington to “resolve this crisis immediately and work with us to address the real needs of the American people.”
Benjamin is the president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, a nonpartisan group of mayors that advocates on behalf of municipalities across the country. The group often gets involved in national issues, as it did in 2018 when immigrant children were being separated from their families at the southern border. Read more>>>
